     I'm sure we've all had our moments when we wanted to try something new or do something we've already done better then the last time and let's face it, sometimes it is just plain HARD. There are days when I'll work on a project in either RL or SL and by the time I'm almost done and looking back at the results of all the time and hard work I've put in, I'm saying to myself,"Wow, ok...this is either going to be epic or all kinds of smh" lol. Other times we can get so anxious about how we are going to accomplish something or how it is going to turn out in the end that we can barely think straight and your brain turns into a big cluster of OMG. Why do we do this to ourselves? All I can say is, that when people have been kind enough to offer some encouragement or advice, what always seems to have the most positive effect is when I just remember to take a moment to calm down and be still. Even if it is just for a moment or two here or there, it's enough time to take some deep calming breathes and just exist outside of our own anxieties and worries. So I guess my message for the day is breathe...be still...then close your eyes..and face the day. It's going to be alright.

      I applied to be a blogger for the Unknown Hunt and was very excited when I got word that I had been selected. Hunts that involve a little mystery or the touch of the unknown are always so fun to do and are my favorite kind. How I view the unknown in RL however, can sometimes be a bit different. I must admit that I tend to prefer the expected over the unknown. Routines and knowing what happens next put me deep in my comfort zone, especially after a particularly stressful day or event. If I'm not careful I will sometimes get so entrenched in my little day-to-day habits that it almost freaks me out a little to change anything and that is NOT a good thing. Yes it can be great to maintain a sense of over all stability but at the same time, if we don't face or create new challenges for ourselves, how are we ever going to grow or overcome that which frightens or intimidates us? So I say let's pick a day to throw our carefully laid plans for that day out the window, take chances, walk on the edge of something a little without holding on to anything and leave your map at home. Make time for the unknown. You never know what you will find if you don't get out there!

     One if the things I've always enjoyed about SL is the fluidity one can experience. The constantly changing landscapes and available skill sets can make being in-world very enticing for someone who loves to learn or has an avid imagination. Yet, underneath it all, regardless of what hobbies you cultivate and enjoy, it has always been and continues to be a strong social medium where people can connect to share ideas, experiences and emotions. In a place that can be so transient, it's easy to forget to show the people we care about that we value and appreciate them. Remember that the people who shared a significant amount of their time with you did so because they chose to; they saw in you something worth while and made a point of creating time just for you. We all have fallen short in these areas, myself being no exception, but I encourage all of you to seek out someone in-world this week, for no other purpose other than to say," Hey, how are you? I think you're awesome". Imagine how amazing the world would be, if we could all remember to do that a little more often.

     I think we can all agree that life can be hectic and messy and just make you want to grab your hair and scream your head off for a few minutes lol. When those moments happen for me and I feel the need to condense or ponder out some chaos, I like to go someplace beautiful and colorful and find myself a little hidey-hole to curl up in. If you're looking for a place like that in SL, I definitely recommend that you visit The Trace. From the moment you arrive, there is almost a tranquil spirit about the place; with a profusion of natural landscaping, pathways, and other fun surprises that can be great for just one person or if you are exploring with friends. This location is available through the generosity and hard work of Kylie Jaxxon and Elvira Kytori; who even allow visitors to rezz their own belongings with a group membership; which is free of charge. I can only say that, there is something about this place that makes me come back again and again. Today is a perfect example as, when I got here this morning, the sim settings were showing a beautiful and expansive sunrise. I stayed to appreciate it for a little while, feeling calmer then when I arrived, and after taking care of the needs of the day, here I find myself again, just in time to catch the last rays of a sunset that is so pretty it just makes you sigh.

 I decided at the beginning of this month that I was going to be ready to complete a 5K by fall. It sounded like a fabulous idea at the time and I was excited to get started. I had finished one once before, but 5 years and two serious car accidents later (neither of which I caused, btw) I was definitely NOT ready to just head out the door and show up at somebodies finish line. So 4 days a week, either right after work or right after lunch, I head to a park with a perfect set up for this type of run and get to it. The first day my run-buddy and I went, all I could think to myself was "OMG I'm dying! Screw this"! Yet one foot kept going in front of the other, and every training day my buddy and I do the best we can. So here I sit; it's late, my body hurts; and all I can think about is that there had better be an EPIC 5K available when I'm ready to run this thing! lol

So to everyone who is facing a challenge, no matter what it is, just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Take that pain or anguish or worry or whatever it is, and let it hone you into someone or something stronger than you were before. Your limits only limit you when you refuse to challenge them!

     I'd love to open with something super witty to say but honestly, I think the above quote pretty much sums it up perfectly. I work hard, I'm capable of providing for myself and my dependents and I'm more than happy to pay my own way in life. I can be assertive, authoritative and if the situation calls for it I can be down right scrappy, All that being said however, that doesn't mean I don't have a profound appreciation for moments when my doors are opened for me, my chair is pulled out or the enumerable other things that a man does when he's being a gentleman and makes a point of treating you like a queen. Yes, bouquets and flowers can be nice and are always a pleasant surprise, but it is the little every day things that a man does, that cost nothing more then a little bit of time and thoughtfulness, that really show you how deep you are in his heart. In turn ladies, let's not forget to show our appreciation; whether it be by word or deed. A big "thank you" to all the men who take the time. You are awesome!

You're So Vain

Ok...I admit it...I am a long hair-flipping, mirror-primping, lip gloss-wearing, turn-around-to-make-sure-you're-dress-doesn't-make-you're-rear-look-too-big kind of girl; and that's just in RL lol. Not because I think I'm just the most gorgeous thing ever or because I'm convinced the world will end if I don't look 100% at all times, but simply because I find a minute or two of girly primping here and there to be a part of being feminine and part of wanting to own that sense of womanhood. I know that seem seem a little odd to the fellas, or even beg the question; "the thought that fixing a smudge in our lip gloss is owning your womanhood"? I would counter with the question of how often have you seen your man walk a little taller and flex his biceps when he knows your checking him out; or how many times have you caught him fussing with his hair when he thought you were too busy with your own to notice? For the same exact reason, he's owning up on his man-mojo lol. We all want to feel we have a presence...a state of being that in its own right and in it's own way is a power unto itself. I find SL to be the perfect paradox to this train of thought. How do we as individuals attain that sense of presence in a world where pretty much everyone is attractive? It's the perfect environment where the sometimes lesser appreciated attributes, such as intelligence, creativity and sincere kindness can shine brighter than the whitest smile.

So I ask you, how will you choose to shine today?

        Like many other history nerds, I find mythology completely fascinating. The knowledge and perspectives one can gain from a culture's spiritual belief system can not only be helpful in terms of understanding it, but it also makes the individuals who comprised that culture or period of time seem like people we can actually relate to or learn from in some way. A perfect example would be the Old Norse/ Viking era. The practices and customs of this ancient civilization were often violent and brutal on a visceral level, yet at the same time, they also had a clear and evident love of poetry, sagas and music. I think in many ways our lives today can mirror the duality of that cold-blooded aggressiveness as well as the tender, primal yearnings of an artistic soul. Everyday we get to choose which one of those will we be........who will you choose to be today?

         With spring not far away, I'm definitely looking forward to waking up on a weekend morning to the sound of birds chirping and soft sunlight streaming through the windows. In all honesty though, what I look forward to the most on a weekend in any season is being able to be lazy and not wake up or get out of bed until I feel like it. For some reason, just being able to take my time to wake up slowly and stretch the kinks out before my toes even have to touch the floor feels like a little bit of self-pampering that can have me purring like a chilled out Cheshire cat lol. Last but not least, no official lazy day is complete without spending time at the beach doing absolutely, deliciously nothing until all that remains is to take a deep breathe and sigh all your worries away as you enjoy that last cold drink and watch a beautiful sunset.

        May each of you find moments in time to be completely and decadently lazy we draw closer to that wonderful, wonderful weekend!

      I think we have all had days or weeks where we experienced what I almost would call "stress clusters", where it seems as if one thing after another is occurring over & over within a short amount of time. They aren't fun, but they are just a part of life and you learn to deal with them. Then there are those occasions where, in a single unexpected moment in time, something will happen or you'll get a phone call that has the potential to completely throw you off center. Such an event happened for myself and my family last Sunday and I just remember going straight into a sort of "auto-pilot mode"; with my mind systematically thinking over what to can be done to try and minimize the impact this event would have on my loved ones and how to explain to each of them exactly what had occurred without completely freaking them out because frankly, things had to start happening right away and there was simply no time for melt downs. It wasn't until the next day when I was telling M. Jay about it that, all of the sudden and very unexpectedly, my own feelings about it hit me for the first time and I had to take a few minutes to just let it process. I'm so grateful that had my M. Jay and my dear friend Chloe, who have been so loving and supportive during it all. Thankfully things ended up not being as bad as they could have been, though it's still going to be a long road for one of my family members. I've done all that I can on my end however, so the rest is up to them.

      So I guess my whole point for this is, that sometimes life is just going to throw something heavy at you but, no matter how impossible or challenging it may seem, you have to just push through it, keep fighting and above all else, just don't give up. It might be hard, it might hurt, but in the end it can forge you into something stronger, if you let it.

        In my house, when the words "Grease is on!!" get called out, you can count on the instant pitter patter of running feet from various parts of the house to all head towards the living room and for that brief two hours, we're all together; munching popcorn, cuddled up and singing along. It is definitely  one of my favorite movies of all time and it does not embarrass me the least little bit to admit that I know almost all of the songs by heart lol. So, when I saw that Tres Chic was going to feature a 50's theme that had many elements from the movie, I was ecstatic! I was so excited to shop around, grab some great buys and even get my very own SL version of that beautiful car in the final scene so that I can ride off into the sunset with my own personal "tall, gorgeous and Italian".

     So, here is to a great week everybody; and may you each have beautiful moments with the one that you want.

          For me, there are few things on the world that are as universally powerful as music. It can over come language barriers, negative thoughts or emotions, and sometimes can even touch the hardest hearts when nothing else could. It has the ability to transport a person to another time and place within a single moment simply from the sound of just a few notes. How many times do we use a song or a piece of lyric to convey the deepest yearnings of our hearts when our own words fail us? There is something magical about it; when you hear the strains of a melody teasing your ear and you turn to catch it. In that next moment, you can only close your eyes and let it envelope you, enchanting and transforming you as only that song can. For a brief instant, the world is a pure and beautiful place where anything is possible, and even after the last bit of harmony has faded away, you are renewed; carrying the echo of that feeling into the silence that remains. I can't imagine anything on Earth more heavenly.

         As we begin a new week, my hope is that each of you will find yourselves touched by an Angel of Music and that you find a piece of heaven on Earth amongst the routines of your everyday.

      We have all had our days or moments where we have so many things going on in so many ways that we are scrambling to keep up. This past weekend and early week has been just that. Between location scouting and house hunting in SL as well as my personal calendar and professional deadlines in RL, it seems as if some days I'm lucky to remember my own name lol. Yet, to be honest, those moments that make me want to tear my hair out seem to also be the moments when I thrive the most. There is something about The Challenge; how it stares you in the face and it is either going to be you getting your rear end handed to you for not keeping up or you are just going to totally own it. Few things feel as great as when you get to the other end of something that really made you work for it.

     That's not to say however, that we can't take a minute or two to grab a bite or a hearty dose of caffeine to keep going and Y's HOUSE Cafe is a great place to do just that. With colorful ambiance, a wide selection of yum-yums and a spacious lounge area for those who have the time to sit and relax or visit. The café is near the waterfront as well, making for a beautiful view and even a spot for a little fishing. I've got my coffee and my donut so let's all have a great week everybody; it's time to get our hustle on!

Dolce Vita

       You can definitely tell we're getting close to Valentine's Day with so many items on display with hearts and words like "love" and "kiss me" seemingly everywhere you look. I know that for many, Paris is the city of love; but for me, I associate love and romance with Italy. The culture, the architecture and last, but definitely not least, the lyrical sounds of the beautiful language that is spoken there. As I was exploring, I came upon a place called Santa Maria dell'isola Italy. This beautiful location has secluded beaches, picturesque views, a charming courtyard serving some nice cold gelato as well as many other discoveries for a the curious visitor. You can tell that a lot of thought and care has gone into making the island something peaceful and unique, while still channeling the feel and influences of Italian culture. I highly recommend a stop here for anyone who wants to relax, unwind and enjoy a little bit of the sweet life.

Lady in Red

With Valentine's Day not far away, it put me in mind of a moonlit night, a beautiful dress and a set of strong arms with a true heart to twirl into as the sound of a tender ballad plays in the distance. There are so many lovely places to have such a moment; but a long held favorite of mine is the Grand Ballroom found at Avilion Grove. This particular venue has been around for over 10 years and is always open and welcoming to all who venture there, providing that they are formally attired. The structure and surrounding entrance area looks largely the same as it did when I first saw it in 2006 and, ironically, I find that I'm glad it still looks the same, as opposed to my usual preference of appreciating a more updated location.

For this visit, I chose to wear this gorgeous new release by Apple May. It's feminine silhouette and sweeping train combined with the luxurious look of the material provides a bold statement without over doing it. A gathered pleat at the hip and delicate lacing in the back add those nice extra touches that take a dress from "pretty" to "OOOOOOO" lol. For jewelry I added Kibitz' pearl choker from Epiphany and a pair of great earrings from Lazuri that offers several options in terms of metals, gems and pearls to finish the look. Now I'm ready to sweep across the dance floor and create new magical memories in this beautiful ballroom. Hope to see you there!

In the daily routine of living of our lives; we sometimes experience moments of sadness, frustration, anxiety or anger just when trying to get through the day. Life is messy and unpredictable; and there are moments when, no matter how hard you tried to plan ahead and have all the possible variables covered, an event will come out of left field and just blows it all up right in your face. It's the challenging times such as those that really let you know who you can count on and who you can't, who is invested in you and who has their foot halfway out of the door, and who is ready to help bury the body muahahahahaha :P

So today and everyday, I encourage you to seek out those people who help you take the bitter that can crop up in life and turn it into something sweet, because only those who love you most can turn your day into a visit to the candy shop.

Principessa

I love being a girl and I truly do believe that it is every females fundamental right to be able to embrace all that comes with it as freely and deeply as she chooses. Regardless of whether she is immersing herself in a day at home wearing nothing but pink, painting her toes and baking cookies for a movie night with the girls or using her feminine perspective and ingenuity to work her way to a promotion or a new job; being a woman means being fierce and driven, soft and sweet and everything in between. Passion Fruit

 There are so many events opening right now and each one I have been able to make it to so far has had amazing content. One of the greatest things about them, in my opinion anyway, are the great deals you can get. So I decided to challenge myself to see if I could get an outfit together for 500L. The first place I went to was Designer Showcase where I was able to grab this gorgeous dress. The deep rich color with it's modest neckline in the front and deep drape in the back makes it both classy and sensual. Its definitely a dress to wear when you want to employ the "over the shoulder come hither" look. It moves great and the fabric textile holds up beautifully with movement (IE: no warping). Next, I started thinking about shoes and I found a fabulous pair made by ILLI at the Mesh Body Addicts Bi-Monthly expo. Initially what caught my eye about them was the metal detailing and it's beautiful silhouette. It's over all look is classy but sassy and would be a nice touch for both a casual or dressier look. They fit several different kinds of feet as well as classic and not only does it come with about 20 presets for multiple parts of the shoe, there is an easy-to-use custom section as well. I was able to easily change the shoes to a dark red to match the dress in just a few minutes. It was all just point and click. Then of course, I had to get my hair done! So after more tries than I can count I got into Collabor88 and grabbed up this tousled style from Exile. So here I am...all ready to go out; and I only went over my budget by a little bit (but hey who is counting anyway right? :P)
